Data Protection Security and Privacy Policy for Applications for Max Planck Research Groups

 

Purpose and legal basis of the processing

The collected data will be processed for the purpose of assessment, statistics and evaluation only. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6, para. 1, letter b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and § 26, paragraph 1 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).

Applicants for Max Planck Research Groups will be asked to provide personal data. In the online application form, all fields marked with * are mandatory. All fields that are not marked are optional. Applicants can provide this information on a voluntary basis and will be asked separately to consent to the data processing according to Art. 6, para. 1 letter a) of the GDPR. Should you wish to withdraw your consent to process any optional data, please contact mprg@gv.mpg.de

 

Use of data and duration of storage

Applications will be evaluated and reviewed by the members of the Max Planck Research Group Selection Committees as well as reviewers. For the purpose of evaluation by reviewers who are located outside the European Union, your data might be transferred to a third country on the basis of Art. 49 Abs. 1 lit. b DS-GVO. Access to the collected data  will  be  granted  for  the  purpose  of  evaluation  via  state-of-the-art  methods  of encoding.

In case of appointment as Max Planck Research Group Leader and conditional on my explicit indication of interest in participating in the MPG/TUM career programme: I agree that my data are transferred to TUM for the sole purpose of evaluation within the framework of the MPG/TUM career programme.

Personal data will be stored for a period of 1 year. Legal retention periods remain unaffected. Users are advised that the collection, processing and use of their data is voluntary. You have the right to receive information about your personal data stored by us at any time. Likewise, you have the right of correction, blocking or deletion of your personal data.

To do this, please contact mprg@gv.mpg.de. You can also request the deletion of the data, as long as no legal archiving obligation stands against this request. As far as such an obligation exists, we lock your data on request. You can make changes or revoke your consent by notifying us with effect for the future.

We reserve the right to change this Data Protection Security and Privacy Policy to  ensure  that  it  complies  with  current  legal  requirements  or  to  implement changes to our services.
